BILGI: An international university expanding the boundaries of the science

 

Adopting the motto “Learning not for school, but for life,” İstanbul BILGI University was founded in 1996 as one of Turkey’s first foundation universities. Embracing freedom, innovativeness and pluralism, BILGI has assumed a pioneering role in Turkey’s higher education life with its vision to become an international university that leads in social development.

Today, BILGI offers more than 150 undergraduate, associate and graduate degree programs in eight faculties, three institutes, and three vocational schools at three centrally located campuses. As a deep-rooted university cherishing its own traditions, BILGI continues to lead higher education in Turkey with more than 20,000 students, over 60,000 alumni and more than 1,000 faculty.

One of the most prestigious higher education ranking institutions, QS, ranked BILGI eight years in a row in the Emerging European Countries and Central Asian Universities list of QS World University Rankings, and BILGI placed among the top 4 foundation universities in Turkey in its 2021 rankings. BILGI is ranked in Group A universities demonstrating “high satisfaction,” according to the 2020 results of Turkey’s University Satisfaction Survey (TÜMA).

Awarded 4 stars in QS Stars University Ratings, the world's most reputable higher education ranking institution, BİLGİ has been in the Emerging European Countries and Central Asian Universities ranking by QS for six years in a row. Ranked 166th in 2021 ranking, BİLGİ is placed among the top 4 foundation universities in Turkey.

According to Turkey’s University Satisfaction Survey (TÜMA) conducted by University Assessments and Research Laboratory (ÜniAr) in 2020, BİLGİ is ranked in Group A universities demonstrating “high satisfaction”. BİLGİ became the 8th university among foundation universities with the highest student satisfaction level.

BİLGİ is listed in top 100 universities in the areas of “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” and “Decent Work and Economic Growth” according to Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2020 on the basis of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

BİLGİ is ranked 29 among 185 universities across Turkey in 2020 Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index, compiled under the leadership of TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey). Making significant progress in Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index in years, this year BİLGİ became the 6th most entrepreneurial and innovative university among foundation universities.
